Emotional Weight Gain
Are you an emotional eater like me? I used to eat when I was happy, when I was sad, bored, confused, procrastinating, really anything! Ha! Funny thing is, it never made me feel better - it only made me feel worse, made me feel fat and made me feel guilty! Truth is - we don’t always eat simply to satisfy hunger. We also turn to food for comfort, stress relief, or as a reward. Unfortunately, emotional eating doesn’t fix emotional problems. Never has, never will... I think some of these habits start in childhood, and I work really hard to break the cycle with my daughter... If you are a mom, how many times have you used food as a reward? "Eat all your dinner and you can have ice cream." or "you were a good girl today, you can have an extra popsicle." I know I am guilty of this just today!

Using food from time to time as a pick me up, a reward, or to celebrate isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But when eating is your primary emotional coping mechanism—when your first impulse is to open the refrigerator whenever you’re upset, angry, lonely, stressed, exhausted, or bored—you get stuck in an unhealthy cycle where the real feeling or problem is never addressed.
Emotional hunger can’t be filled with food. Eating may feel good in the moment, but the feelings that triggered the eating are still there. And you often feel worse than you did before because of the unnecessary calories you consumed. You beat yourself for messing up and not having more willpower. Compounding the problem, you stop learning healthier ways to deal with your emotions, you have a harder and harder time controlling your weight, and you feel increasingly powerless over both food and your feelings.
So what is the difference between real hunger and emotional hunger??? Glad you asked...

So what should I do instead of eat???

- If you’re depressed or lonely, call someone who always makes you feel better, play with your dog or cat, or look at a favorite photo or cherished memento. WORKOUT!!!
- If you’re anxious, expend your nervous energy by dancing to your favorite song, squeezing a stress ball, or taking a brisk walk. WORKOUT!!!
- If you’re exhausted, treat yourself with a hot cup of tea, take a bath, light some scented candles, or wrap yourself in a warm blanket. SLEEP OR WORKOUT!!
- If you’re bored, read a good book, watch a comedy show, explore the outdoors, or turn to an activity you enjoy (woodworking, playing the guitar, shooting hoops, scrapbooking, etc.). WORKOUT!!! (get where I am going here)

21 Day Fix Results - Round 1
Week 3 was some what of a challenge... my girls will let me workout for 30 min no problem (most days lol) but doubles were hard to get in for sure!!! But I remained committed (and sore!) and I feel like it paid off! Total inches lost 9.0 and 7.5 inches lost!
I learned a lot these last 21 days - you can overeat on healthy food, I was not eating enough and I was eating more carbs than I thought! Great program for all fitness levels! I will be repeating this program in the future!!

How I lost 30 pounds in 60 days...
It may seem obvious - workout, eat clean foods, drink water, drink Shakeology daily... and that is pretty much all I did.. but I have some tips I learned a long the way to get me there!
Eating real food...
- Clean out your pantry!! That Hamburger Helper in the back of your pantry is not doing anyone any favors... Clean you pantry out of all the things you might be tempted by! As a parent, it wasn't easy and did have to keep some snacks for Aubrey... And at Easter time, I made her hide all her candy in her room so I wouldn't eat it - I knew I would never go in her room at night and risk waking her up to get to a kit-kat! What sane mom would??- Prep is KEY!! When it was first recommended to me to do a meal prep day for the week - I thought that sounded gross, like I would be eating left overs all week... But, I embraced meal prep and now I LOVE IT! It takes away all the excuses of why I can't eat clean!! Dan goes grocery shopping every 2 weeks and once a week we prep. Grill full of chicken, pot full of brown rice, veggies all cut, snacks portioned out! So if I am running around with the girls all day, and I look at the clock and it is 630 I can have dinner on the table in 5-10 minutes! Prep is also nice on the pocket book... After awhile, I learned what I needed and how much I needed on the grocery list... Week 1 I eat a lot of berries, salad, bananas and Week 2 I eat more apples, pineapple, carrots and frozen veggies (things that have a longer shelf life.) Frozen veggies are almost as good as fresh - they are usually picked and frozen at the peak of freshness and are a great alternative financially and if you are like me and only shop twice a month.
- Don't get caught up in "I don't like fish"... Guess what? ME EITHER... I don't like fish, eggs, avocado, sweet potatoes, ect... That does not mean I can't succeed at this... Yes, I eat a lot of the same foods (chicken, brown rice, peppers, sugar snapped peas, ect), but I have learned to take these same core ingredients and make it work!
- Do not STARVE! If you throw your body into starvation mode, you will ruin your metabolism and your body will hold onto whatever calories you do eat... I practiced zig-zag dieting which helps burn calories and keeps your metabolism guessing... And the best part is, its okay to have a cheat meal - WHY? Because your body isn't expecting it! This method is used a lot to help break a plateau but I find it easy to follow and I am hoping using this practice, I won't plateau.... So for example, I will eat 1200 calories on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then Thursday I will eat 1600 then Friday is 1400... Saturday and Sunday are 1400-1600 depending on what I am doing... If I have a 'bad' eating day, I will turn around and really watch what I eat for a day or two and eating 1200 really lean calories and reduce or elimate carbs the next day or two.. ALL CALORIES ARE NOT CREATED EQUALLY - always remember that! And never eat less than 1200 calories in a day!!!
Pushing PLAY...
I think we can all agree that time is valuable - whether you have 10 kids and 10 jobs or no kids and no job we all value our time. So when you push play - be the best athlete you can be in that time... If your workout is 20 minutes or an hour you are using your time anyways so make the most of it... We all have bad days, or days we aren't feeling it... but push play, follow the program and be the best you can be everytime! You will not regret it!Go Public...
I did not realize the impact going public with my weight loss would have! Once I started posting about it and talking about it, I found so many people supporting me, and then joining me and WATCHING ME... People wanted to know what I was doing, I felt like everywhere I went people wanted to see what I would eat at a wedding, graduation, picnic, restaurant, ect... I felt like people were saying "will she go to the dessert table?" "will she eat a hot dog?" so it was like an extra set of eyes on me! Because lets face it, what you eat in private is what you wear in public!Taking those dreaded BEFORE PHOTOS....
I hadn't looked at myself like that in years.... I set up the tripod and set the timer, took the first photo and looked at the preview on the camera to make sure the zoom and everything was okay and I literally almost fell to the floor... I was overwhelmed with "how did this happen", "this is too much to change", "this is going to take forever"... I was soooo ------- sad.... I had abused my body, I let it go... I studied those photos, and I put them in my phone and I looked at them daily... and when I didn't feel like pushing play I thought about them, and when I wanted to eat ice cream I thought of them and how I felt in that moment... and nothing could taste as good as getting fit would feel... So take them, study them, remind yourself of how you felt in that moment... You can't change what you can't acknowledge, acknowledge that what you see isn't healthy...![]() |

Wait a minute.. baking and burpees do NOT go together!
You are right!! They don't! What you may not know is that Beachbody is not my first business venture... I ran my own cupcake bakery out of my home, my so called 'bakery' was named "A Smidge & a Pinch".. I would spend my nights and evenings creating custom made-to-order cupcakes and cake pops... It was a fun and quite successful business but it was not rewarding.. Yeah, I helped people in that moment, in giving them the perfect dessert for the occasion... But I didn't change anyone's life, I probably just changed their waist line (sorry)...
Baking took up so much time, every evening when my daughter went to bed I would bake, and then clean up over and over... It was taxing on my body, my marriage and my weight.. I just so desperately wanted to work less hours as a nurse...
When I started with Beachbody, I never intended on being a coach... BUT MY RESULTS ARE AMAZING, MY RENEWED SENSE OF SELF IS UNBELIEVABLE AND I WANTED AND NEEDED TO SHARE IT!!!
I am working on building my team, Inspiring Change and if you have a passion for helping people then I want you to help you build your business! I named my team Inspiring Change, because it is my goal, right there in you face.... As a busy mom, I never thought this transformation would be possible for me, inside and out I have become a new, fresh, thinner version of the person I always wanted to be. And I want to inspire other people, particularly women that they can have this too! I basically get paid to inspire people and to keep up with my own health and fitness goals - amazing, right!?
Be your own boss
Opportunity to Travel
I am a new coach, so I have not personally experienced the benefits of this perk... but I WILL! Beachbody is amazing at praising you for your hard work, you earn point through sales and it turns into cash for a vacation! Yes, many coaches get to go on vacation completely paid for! They get to meet their favorite trainers, hang with other coaches, and bring a guest!
Personal Accountability

Benefits of being a Beachbody Coach:
Changing lives!
Being a coach, I work with these people for long term and help them in so many ways: exercise, nutrition, confidence, and we create a special bond. Before my own eyes, they are changing their lifestyles and transforming into people they never thought they could be. But because of my guidance, they reach their goals. This is the most rewarding job I have ever had, and so thankful for having this opportunity.
Be your own boss
I am responsible for my success... There are no set hours, I can work at my blog, social media and answering emails for hours one day and then 10 minutes the next day... I can talk to a potential customer or follow up with customers every where and any where... Most of the time, I work on my business 30 minutes in the morning, here and there throughout the day and I make sure I devote an hour in the evening. Somedays more, somdays less...
Financial Freedom
As a coach, your income potential is unlimited.... UNLIMITED! I just recently was able to change my nursing hours and be home more with my family, all thanks to Beachbody!! I wanted it, I went for it, and now I have it... My next goal is to pay cash for my vacation to Disney is September... And then for Christmas... And the girls college funds... Opportunity to Travel

Personal Accountability
I love eating well and exercising but some days, I just don't feel like it. Being a coach, reminds me that I need to practice what I preach and push play every day (plus I am always glad when I do) I love giving tips and tricks on how to make living this 'healthstyle' easier and the only way I can do that is to continue learning myself and to keep pushing myself. Not only does coaching keep my body healthy, but it has been great for my emotional well-being. I have suffered from anxiety and depression off and on through the course of my life, between the satisfaction I get from my own workouts, the satisfaction I get from helping others and the personal development I have read and studied since becoming a coach I feel better than ever!
It's not all about the money - but in this topic it is --- DISCOUNT

How did this ever happen?!?
And there I am, naked in a dressing room... Standing in front of a three-angled mirror... My ah-ha moment... The moment that changed everything... I just stand there and stare at my body, I hadn't looked at my 6 week postpartum body like this. In fact, I couldn't remember the last time I stood in front of a full length mirror; much less one that showed me so much of it. How did this happen? Yeah, yeah I know, I heard it all the time "oh, you just had a baby". No, this was more than just that, a lot more. My teenage self would've been mortified. She starved herself, she hated her body. I couldn't hate my body today. You can't hate what gave you two beautiful, healthy girls. But I knew I couldn't live in this body...
I came home and told my husband, Dan that I needed to do something, but I didn't know where to start. He told me about a girl we went to highschool with how she did some kind of Beachbody workout and now she is a coach. I went on her site, and I couldn't believe her transformation. I knew this was what I needed...
I decided on T25 and Shakeology... I didn't really know much about it, but I knew I could give up 25 minutes a day and even if it killed me I figure for 25 min I could deal with it. I became part of a Challenge Group.
Day 1 - March 24th. To sum it up, I thought "WTF did I get myself into!?!" The workout was intense... Little did I know that in a few weeks it would be some much easier. Everyday got better and better....
4 weeks into it, the workouts were still intense but I got closer and closer to nailing it! I loved it, I looked forward to it. The shakes gave me all the energy I needed to power through even with a 3 year old and infant. My results were amazing - 15.2 lbs and 22.5 inches... If I didn't experience it, I probably wouldn't believe it...
Today, 5.5 weeks into the program I am addicted... I feel completely different... I have energy, I have confidence... I realized that giving just 25 min a day to myself was the best thing I could've ever done for my family. I found the 'me' that was under all the pounds and inches, under all the anxiety and depression... There was me... I just want to pay this feeling forward, my Beachbody team I decided to name "Inspiring Change" because that is my mission... I would love to inspire women that they can do this and that it will change their life...
